Each cotton Jhola begins as a cloud of raw fiber — carded, spun, and woven on traditional looms by the women of Uttarakhand. No plastic. No shortcuts. Just hands, heritage, and a future worth carrying.

Women Stitching
In village courtyards across Uttarakhand, women gather with needle and thread — turning raw cotton into durable Jholas. Each stitch is income, independence, and dignity.

Handloom Weaving
On wooden looms older than memory, weavers interlace warp and weft in rhythms passed through generations. The loom does not rush. Neither do we.

The First Stitch
A handful of women in a single village begin sewing cotton bags to replace plastic at the local market.
2020
Jhola Abhiyaan Born
The movement formalizes. 12 villages join. The first 10,000 bags are distributed free to shopkeepers.
2022
Handloom Revival
Partnership with traditional weavers brings heritage textiles into every Jhola. Income doubles for 80 families.
2024
A Himalayan Network
48 villages, 340 women, 1,200 volunteers. Over 2.4 million plastic bags replaced.
